BIOGRAPHY

Manon McCoy (she/her) is a composer, experimental harpist and vocalist based in the North.

Classically trained at the Royal Northern College of Music, and with a background in traditional Irish music, she has since studied a range of different genres; improvised music and contemporary Jazz on the Sheffield scene, Hindustani classical music at Sheffield University, and more recently electronics and live processing.

Her compositional work focuses on presenting personal experiences of: the body, community, the environment, womanhood, the experience of time and physical spaces. Through collaborative projects involving interactions across different art forms, she aims to open a space to actively explore creative solutions to shifting social environments, represent and act for social change.

Manon is particularly interested in the uses of spaces both musical and physical, often designing pieces that rework the performer-audience dynamic. She creates site specific sound installations that explore the acoustic environments of different locations. Her works bring with them a strong sense of storytelling and sharing of space.
